Although I've always been interested in, and appreciated, painting, drawing and colour, I've never done anything about it until quite recently. Only when I got sick in 1985, and was bed-ridden for nearly 2 years, did I begin to develop my interest in art and in Lines particularly. This took me into the field of
graphoanalysis where I really enjoyed interpreting other people's use of lines in handwriting and how this reflected their personalities. This in turn got me into drawing and sketching, where I used my own lines of every variety, to express and to capture the essence of people, places and situations. The Essence of things interested me, not a true likeness. Also, I'm not interested in charicatures, but I am very interested in capturing the feeling, substance or energy of the people or situations that I draw. Then I discovered that adding colour to the lines could capture the essence even better. And away I went to the "paint store", to buy the colours that further enabled me to continue my journey of discovery both of self and others.
